Path of Exile item upgrader Upgrades

Upgrades to items are a frequent and important way to improve the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can be a good source of extra damage, more AD or even more attachments.

In most cases, however, upgraded Common and Magic gear is outclassed by Rare-grade equipment due to their higher requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They boost the performance of the item they're attached to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and are available from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be salvaged from items with upgrade components within them by with a professional or higher salvage kit.

The level of an armor's or weapon's upgrade determines the amount of damage it can absorb. The upgrade of an armor piece to its highest upgrade level will increase the damage it absorbs. It is important to note that this will increase the weight of the armor, so it must be heavier.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades available in the game and they all have distinct effects. For instance, some upgrades give the armor a certain amount of additional health points, while others will make it lighter and stronger. The type of armor upgrade that an item upgrader kit will receive will be indicated by the name of the upgrade, as shown in the table below.

Some of the upgrades are also magical or a combination of magic and technology, which is shown by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. All tiers of jewels can be crafted at the Jeweler however, there are some exceptions to this, such as the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a sufficient level to be able to get these. Like other upgrade components jewels are able to be swapped by a different jewel of the same kind without damaging the original one. However it is only possible to replace the jewels in a piece of equipment only once.

It is typical to use more jewels to enhance the appearance of. In addition to improving performance, the jewels also create an outer layer that is more durable than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

A Glyphmaster can offer glyphs to improve the look of your shields and weapons. These provide a small bonus and can be swapped freely but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot, personal story rewards, from vendors, and by performing road interactions. They can also be crafted by jewelers and later found or purchased on the Trading Post.

The first trinket a player will be able to unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can acquire rings, amulets, and necklaces in the same way to how a player can acquire armor and weapons. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be put into any kind of equipment however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and only works with specific types of trinkets.

These trinkets provide additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't in combat. This allows a hero to be more efficient while inactive. It can also make up for the absence of good team or talent tree slots which would normally be filled by the hero's Best item upgrade stats.

In general trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true if you want to upgrade multiple stats on an Item Upgrader Kit. It's more beneficial to upgrade a single important stat than two less important ones.

In the beginning of the game players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their trinket to a red in the middle and top players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices can affect a hero's ability to control the map.

In addition to the items listed above, players can also find other trinkets in the form trophies and rewards throughout the game.
