World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades boost the value of certain numeric stats on armor, weapons and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.

The cost for upgrading items increases when they reach the item's current level. The cost increases as the level of the item rises.

Components

Upgrade components can be added to trinkets, weapons and armor in order to provide them with a boost in stats or an extra effect. These can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a special kind of upgrade component that is that is used to upgrade non-amulet ascended or legendary equipment, as well as some of the non-ascended back items. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade may have a prefix or suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is used (for Item Upgrader Mod instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Leveling

The system of upgrading items allows players to improve the performance of specific items by putting upgraded components inside them. This is often referred to as "upping". Each upgradeable item is assigned an amount that determines the final stats. Upgraded items can be leveled up to a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each level requires a different number of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is advanced in level.

Some upgrades require a special ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by finishing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level up the item. Once enough points have been earned, item upgrader mod the upgrade can be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player improves a piece of equipment it is replaced by a new item. The same armor will receive the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This can be a downside, as the item can be more expensive even if you don't require it.

If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The Best item upgrader will be replaced by the same item Upgrader mod, but it has a base of level 1 and completely different bonuses. Each item can be upgraded up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Every each time you upgrade an item it is given a chance to fail--the failure rate increases the farther you go over the maximum number of upgrades. Failures can cause the item level upgrade to go to its initial state, which will force the user to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the highest number of upgrades.

If an item isn't upgraded, the experience bar in the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item will also lose any bonuses it has gained, such as chances to be crit damage to attack, other effects (such as an increase in healing over time or the speed of reloading). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that when a weapon gains an increase in crit chance, the increase is applied before any increase in attack damage.
