WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the item level by +3. A random substat is also boosted alongside each upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major Item Upgrade cities, and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current item level of the gear being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item upgrade from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade weapons, armor, tools and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased by players through item upgrader NPCs in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. This is to allow players to upgrade their equipment up to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters instead of relying only on seasonal loot.

Another notable modification is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them wisely. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best gear you have available, and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning on making. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that fill multiple slots on the character, that will be able to avail the account-wide discount when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
