However unlike the i7+ and other top rated robot Vacuum-rated robots that we tested the i3+ does not have a feature for avoiding obstacles, so it may get stuck on things such as power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces like hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends that you tidy up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes putting away any toys or clutter it might come across. It's also recommended to keep the dust bin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is depleted, it returns to its docking station, automatically empties its trash into the station's external dustbin and then resumes cleaning where it left off. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes about three hours to charge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. But the most significant feature is its auto-emptying bin. This eliminates the need for regular maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ is able to make rooms more efficient maps using Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and it can control your robot via the app or via voice.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface types including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying garbage bin that removes major maintenance sources and reduces recurring cost.

We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with best amazon vacuum Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the robot to begin, stop or pause its cleaning sessions and move around the room and sweep an area. The process of connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward using the iRobot Home app. After being connected, to voice commands to the i7+, like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is an all-sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on a bookcase or coffee table.

The V10 is powered with a Lithium-ion battery with 7 cells of energy, which produces energy that lasts for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system captures allergens, and then releases cleaner air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It has three different suction modes that can be adapted to the task. It is able to quickly switch from handheld to automatic floor cleaners vacuum and vice versa.

This model has a dock that can charge the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and a handheld. This is a significant improvement over the older Dysons models, that require a long charge and are a pain to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable time to run an electric cordless vacuum powered by batteries. This is still enough to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size however, it's not enough to clean every spot (though an additional run-through often can be effective). However, this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and agile than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

The 694 is a basic robotic vacuum that's a great option for those who don't have a lot of money to spend on a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes during our tests and would often go over the same area several times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the edges of walls which is a nice addition.

Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the ability to map that comes with more sophisticated models such as our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. This means that it is sometimes stuck on things like phone cords and low furniture, and it frequently will run out of battery before making it back to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694 because it has fewer components that require regular cleaning, comes with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtering system, has a lower cost of recurring costs, is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better maneuver its own. It also has a larger dustbin and can charge faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled with the voice assistant on your smartphone. It also feels more sturdy and has a stronger motor, and is able to perform better on both bare floors and low-pile carpet, while providing a greater variety of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's not a surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Jet Bot AI+ has an advanced onboard technology that allows to navigate and avoid obstacles.

The app gives you plenty of options to customize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification, docking frequency settings, and much more. The app is simple to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our testing our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and top rated Robot vacuum handled dog hair (on carpet) quite well, clearing up 86 percent of it. It did not do well in avoiding taller objects like socks or cords. This was disappointing. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tested, which might be a deal-breaker for some shoppers.

The app lets you access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to monitor your pets or children while you're away. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned for a quick, painless clean-up. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with self-emptying clean stations, which helps to keep the bin clean and improves suction power.
